The brief
Where they started
Frenchfield's typographic-portrait technique turns a client's own words — names, places, memories — into the linework of a portrait. Each commission is unique to the person it's made for.
Our approach
What we did
- 01
Built the likeness entirely from custom-set type — no photographic tracing, every line is text sized, curved, and weighted to render light and shadow.
- 02
Sourced the words themselves from the client's own story, so the piece reads as personal on close inspection and as a portrait from a distance.
